Fileplanet (IGN) closes after 13 years - One of the first file hosting websites of it's time, alongside with FileLeech and (now) Game Front, FilePlanet was excitedly launched on May 6th, 1999 by the well-known Gamespy, to serve the popular Quake 2 community at the time. IGN then purchased Gamespy in 2004 and redesigned the website.
And finally, near the end of April here in 2012, a banner has/was added atop the FilePlanet homepage hinting the shutdown of the website, stating: "Note: FilePlanet is no longer being updated and is in the process of being archived."
Now 2 months later, iIt iscertainty now, all workers are discontinued and file planet closes his gates definitely and archive his contents. How long the user downloads remained active is uncertain.
